Common Testify Short Movie
Testify” was the fourth single from rapper Common ’s 2005 album Be. The original song clocked in at just above two and a half minutes, it was the second shortest track on Be (after the albums intro). It is produced by Kanye West, whose beat heavily utilizes vocal samples from “Innocent Until Proven Guilty” by Honey Cone. A short film was directed by Anthony Mandler and produced by Boxfresh Pictures. It stars Taraji Henson, Wood Harris, Steve Harris, Kenny Burns and Kevin Black. The full length video premiered during a Making The Video segment and all subsequent airings were a scaled down to a three minute version. The song’s story is about a woman who manipulates a judge and jury to find her partner guilty of a crime she committed. After the case is settled, she starts laughing and reveals that she is the criminal. 2] The song was a critical hit garnering a nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 48th Grammy Awards

It’s official, Yonkers MC and member of the LOX Jadakiss has inked a new joint solo deal with Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records and Ruff Ryders. Although rumors of a move to Def Jam by Kiss have circulated for some time now, Jay-Z confirmed the deal during a recent show at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Kiss’s next album will be a joint venture between Roc-A-Fella and Ruff Ryders and is due out in 2008. The as yet untitled project will be Kiss’ third solo LP, after 2001’s Kiss The Game Goodbye and 2004’s Kiss of Death. Jay-Z and Kiss’s partner Sheek Louch have also confirmed that a deal to bring The LOX to Def Jam is also in the works, and should be complete in the near future.

Takeover 2008!
After a year of hip-hop being ran by the South, Jay-z had to put his super-hero abilities to work. With Kanye settin the year off right with Graduation going plat in about 3 days, the ROC was definately in the buildin. The Jay came and shut the shit down when he annouced his American Gangster album (Which is one his best pieces of work in my opinion). Then rumors of State Property gettin back together were confirmed a couple months ago and the hip-hop world was shocked to see Roc-a-fella records makin they're climb back to the top. Free and Beans album drop next month. I hear they're both supposed to be bangers. Then last night during Hov's American Gangster tour, he announced that Jadakiss is the newest member of the Roc-a-fella team. WOW. We all know Jada's a monster, so ummm the takeover has begun.

It's Confirmed Kanye's Mom Passes...
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Donda West, mother of Kanye West and former chairwoman of Chicago State University's English department, has died, a spokesman for the rapper said. She was 58.
Donda West died Saturday night in Los Angeles, said the spokesman, who asked for anonymity because not all family members had been notified.
"The family respectfully asks for privacy during this time of grief," the spokesman said.
A cause of death has not been released.
Donda West was known for the strong bond she shared with her son, by whose side she was often seen at parties and award shows.
Kanye West, 30, often spoke of his close relationship with his mother, who raised him alone after her husband left when Kanye was 3.
She was the inspiration for the song, "Hey Mama," on Kanye West's 2005 album "Late Registration," in which he sings: "Hey Mama, I wanna scream so loud for you, cuz I'm so proud of you ... I appreciate what you allowed for me. I just want you to be proud of me."
Donda West frequently defended her son against critics who accused him of penning misogynistic lyrics and other purported transgressions.
"I support my baby," she said in a Chicago Sun-Times interview. "He is telling how he feels and he is speaking the truth as he
sees it."
In May, she published the book "Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Star," in which she paid homage to her famous son.
Donda West served as chief executive of West Brands LLC, the parent company of her son's business enterprises, and as chairwoman of the Kanye West Foundation, an educational nonprofit that works to decrease dropout rates and improve literacy.
Kanye West told the Associated Press in August that he and his mother worked together to devise the foundation's first program, "Loop Dreams," which helps public school students get involved in music.
"Me and my mother were discussing ways to give back and came up with the concept," he said.
Donda West worked in higher education for 31 years, before leaving academia in 2004 to help manage her son's career, according to a biography on the Kanye West Foundation's Web site.
She began working at Chicago State University in 1980 and eventually chaired the school's English department, according to the site. She started her teaching career in the early 1970s as an instructor at Brown College in Atlanta.
Kanye West's writing partner Rhymefest lamented Donda West's death Sunday in an appearance on Chicago radio station WCGI.
"She was everyone's mom," Rhymefest said. "A spirit never dies, a spirit lasts forever."

With early "BOOs" in the first quarter the Laker organization seemed like it was going down the drain. But they forgot they have the best player in the game. After a few quick buckets, The "KOBE" chants were back in the building. He ended up with 45 points and with a clutch shot by Fisher the game looked like it was headed into overtime. But the Rockets ended up with the ball with about eight seconds left, and Shane Battier hit the game winning 3 pointer. Fuckin Shane Battier.
